Post Script

Oh, P.S. I was right. It didn't take me long at all to cave and come back to Facebook. Here's a link to my new Facebook page for artcarriedaway!

180 State of Mind

Well I am unfortunately not much closer to a completed logo. I'm such a procrastinater. This is a totally new side to the Carrie I once knew. My original philosophy was a complete 180 to my current state of mind. I considered myself late if I was five minutes EARLY to an event. Now I'm lucky if I'm on time...I suppose it comes with this newfound independence I have. Let me tell you though, I am LOVING it! I'm not sure I've ever been this happy before.

But I digress...

I've made some preliminary journey's through Google images, hunting for the perfect image to use as inspiration for my logo. I feel like I should go ahead and tell you my thoughts, but would that be jinxing it? Maybe I should copyright this or threaten bodily harm before I reveal my plan to avoid thievery? Then again, I don't think I care that much...

The basic idea is going to center around my favorite image: an owl. Take the brand "artcarriedaway" and an owl and what do you get? An owl flying with a pencil in his talons - That's what!!! The only problem is that all the images I'm drawn to are little heart-shaped, chubby owls perched on branches. The clip art of owls in flight that I've been able to find are a little Halloween-esque. DEFINITELY not the direction I'm going for. So I might have to settle on a fat little owl perched on a branch instead. What do we think of an owl perched on a pencil? Too cliche?

I'm just thinking out loud here, feel free to ignore me. I'm pretty excited about having the image complete though. I'm going to throw it around like confetti online when I've got it done. I am pretty set on the tattoo as well. I've always said that I would get a tattoo only if it was something I designed and something that I would feel was sentimental enough to have for the rest of my life. My art is pretty much the reason for my sanity, so I think that deems it sentimental...

So to continue with my obsession with owls, I recently bought this little guy on Etsy. The buyer - http://www.etsy.com/shop/StephenEdwardGraphic - was GREAT to work with and the finished product on my MacBook was exactly what I was hoping for...Of course I requested the owl in green =) He's so freaking adorable, I might try to work him into my logo design. When my sister got a tattoo of an elephant, she used clip art and I always thought that was rather endearing.

Yesssssss...I just heard a pitter patter on my office window, so I swiveled around and it's pouring rain...And it's the kind of rain where it's simultaneously sunny...I tweeted this over the weekend, so forgive me if I'm repeating myself, but I feel like there should be such a thing as a smell soundtrack. The smell of rain brings back the most amazing memories...But then again, the smell of the ocean does as well...And bonfires and hydrangeas...Just like each of my favorite songs brings back memories, smells bring me back to another time. If I could make a mix of smells, rain would be track #1. For those of you who know me well, the smell of bonfires would definitely be track #8.

Well speaking of the ocean, it's three days and counting until us girls head out in a caravan to the beach for Savannah's bachelorette weekend. It's going to be wild...I am happy to embrace the mayhem that shall ensue as well as the celebration of Savannah's last "single" hoorah - But I'm also so thrilled to see the ocean...It's been almost two years...TWO YEARS, PEOPLE! That's just rediculous...Anyway, I'm sure there will be much writing to come from this trip. I look forward to pulling you all in with me as the ocean takes me over - mind, body and soul.

One last thing to leave you with...The most INCREDIBLE rainbow I've ever seen! I caught it on camera yesterday evening on the way home from Savannah's bridal shower. The photo doesn't even come close to doing it justice. It was so crytal clear that you could see each and every line of color. Just spectacular...God is my favorite artist.

Logo Time

In my quest to become the oh-so-famous artist that I have always meant to be (**sarcasm**), I have decided that I must conquer every facet of the internet. So far we've got:

http://www.artcarriedaway.com/
http://www.etsy.com/shop/artCARRIEdaway
https://twitter.com/artCARRIEdaway
and now this! http://artcarriedaway.blogspot.com/

I would have a facebook but unfortunately, I've decided to yet again deactivate it for a while. Don't fret however, I'm sure I'll breathe life back into it in about three weeks (if I can last that long).

Until then, I have a new goal. I need to create a logo for myself. One would assume this is an easy task given that I'm an ARTIST. Yet, this is extemely important. I am the kind of person that craves change and newness, so this has to be pretty much the PERFECT image so that I don't get the desire to change it in two hours...

Two elements of the design I MUST include: A tree/leaf and an owl. I actually think I have an idea that I need to try out...I recently bought two fabulous little glass owls from the Estate Specialist downtown so they will more than likely be my inspiration. To give you a slight hint, I might also include a pencil in the design...Think my brand: "artcarriedaway"....That was a pretty huge hint...If you can't get it from that, then you're pretty daft.

Just kidding ;-D

To switch gears, I swear that my Pandora playlist can read my mind. ALL I put in was Copeland, and it's given me Anberlin, The Acceptance, Death Cab, Jack's Mannequin, Mae, even EISLEY. And not only are they choosing some of my favorite arists (which really isn't all that surprising as they are all reminiscent of Copeland's sound - i.e. The entire point of the Music Genome Project), it's somehow picking my favorite SONGS by these artists! When you think of the thousands of songs written and recorded between these artists, it's a pretty impressive feat.

Stay tuned for my new logo - Might head over to Starbucks to work on it tonight...

P.S. If this logo is a success...then it's definitely time for me to get a tattoo...Who wants to join me?!?!
